Spirit Lake School Board Awards Bids On High School Project

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake school board last night awarded bids totaling 500-thousand dollars for the high school expansion. The engineer’s estimate was 535-thousand. No bids were received for the utility part of the project. The school’s construction consultant, CPMI, is trying to figure out what to do about that.

Construction of the Spirit Lake schools’ second wind turbine is underway. Building and grounds director Jim Tirevold told the board last evening foundation work started Monday. The turbine itself will be shipped over the next several weeks from overseas…but there’s concern it could be delayed as it goes through customs due to increased inspections.

The turbine itself is expected to go up around October 15th with it going into operation shortly after that.
