(Spirit Lake)– A collision involving a car and a motorcycle near Spirit Lake early Friday evening claimed the life of a young Spirit Lake man.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Nathanael Symeon Crawford of Spirit Lake was killed when he crashed a 2005 Suzuki Motorcycle he was driving into the driver’s side of a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 53-year-old Candace Mayer of El Paso, Texas.
Authorities say Crawford was alone on his motorcycle. Neither Mayer or two passengers in the vehicle she was driving were injured.
The mishap took place around 6:00 p.m. on County Road M-56 about a half-mile south of Highway nine.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spirit Lake, Okoboji, and Arnolds Park Police Departments, Spirit Lake and Milford Fire Departments, Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.
