(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake police say an investigation continues and charges are pending in connection with a collision Friday that involved a pick-up and a bicycle.
Police say 66-year-old William Thiessen of Spirit Lake was crossing Peoria Avenue on a bicycle when he was struck by a pickup driven by 33-year-old Kevin Cardwell of Spirit Lake.
Thiessen was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with leg and head injuries.
Authorities say Thiessen was riding his bike westbound across Peoria Avenue and had a green light; Cardwell was southbound on Peoria Avenue and was turning east onto Highways nine and 71…making a right-turn on red.
The collision took place around 3:00 p.m. Friday.
