Spirit Lake Man Announces Candidacy For State Representative

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man announced Friday he’s running for State Representative in House District Six, which includes all of Dickinson county, the city of Spencer and northeastern Clay county.

Mike May says his love for the people in the sixth district is what led to his decision to run. He says he wants to give something back to the area.

May adds northwest Iowa and the sixth district are oftentimes overlooked in Des Moines, and he says he’ll work hard to change that if elected.

May was accompanied on his whirlwind tour of the district by House Speaker Christopher Rants of Sioux City.

May has lived in Dickinson county since 1959. He taught school at Arnolds Park for five years and taught in the Spirit Lake district 27 years. May and his family run Trigg’s Resort in Arnolds Park.
