Spirit Lake Instructional Support Levy To Renew Automatically

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A resolution adopted by the Spirit Lake school board to renew the district’s Instructional Support Levy is going to stand.

The end of business Monday was the deadline to file a petition calling for a special election on the matter. Superintendent Tim Grieves says none was filed, meaning the renewal of the levy will be automatic.

The school board met in special session Monday evening to talk about contingency plans and to schedule a special election in the event a petition was filed. With that being a moot point, the board instead talked about its long range building plans and funding options. Grieves says the district is still looking at about nine million dollars in projects…the largest being an additional gymnasium at the high school and a new auditorium.
