(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake City Council Tuesday approved engineering proposals for a couple of upcoming projects.
One is for the East Gateway Project. Beck Engineering of Spirit Lake will do the studies for that project at a cost of 34,225-dollars. The project itself has a total estimated cost of 535-thousand dollars. Widening the Highway Nine & 71 bridge would tack another 60-thousand onto that.
Public Works Director Todd Dolphin says the project will beautify the east entryway into Spirit Lake by constructing a boardwalk and pier similar to what’s on Hill Avenue North, along with a recreational trail. Dolphin says they plan to do the work yet this fall.
The council also approved an engineering agreement with Jacobson/Westergard for the installation of sanitary sewer, water and storm sewer along the eastern extension of 170th Street, or the County Home Road, from Highway 71 to the south side of the future YMCA. Engineering fees for that project are not to exceed 27,300-dollars.
