Spirit Lake Council Adopts Procedural Changes

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake City Council voted four-to-one Tuesday to adopt formal rules of procedure at its meetings.

Barb Ricke cast the lone no vote.

One of the changes allows only the mayor, a city council member, city officers, department heads and supervisors to request an item be placed on the agenda. Other people will still be able to address the council on various issues during the “public comment” portion of the meeting. Anyone addressing the council will have three minutes to do so, and anyone making personal or slanderous remarks will be asked to leave.
