Spirit Lake City Budget Ready

The new Spirit Lake city budget is ready for approval. City Administrator Pete Hegeman tells KUOO News the two largest line items are street projects slated for the new fiscal year beginning July 1st. The new spending plan holds the line on spending with property taxes increasing less than a half-cent per thousand dollar property valuation to 9 dollars 54 cents. Hegeman told KUOO News the council decided it would rather pare spending than raise taxes. Next year’s overall budget is 10 million 443 thousand dollars – down from 12.5 million dollars in the current year.
