(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake businessman has been named “citizen of the years” by the Spirit Lake Noon Kiwanis club.
The honor was bestowed upon Kim Wermerson at the club’s annual Christmas party Wednesday evening.
Wermerson says he was very humbled upon learning he was this year’s recipient of the award, which honors a person for his or her service to community over the years.
Wermerson told KUOO news community service and helping other people is what community is all about.
Wermerson is the regional Governor for Kiwanis this year. In addition to his activities with that organization, he’s also active in his church, Crimestoppers, Lakes Area Community Theatre, Mainsail, and numerous other activities and organizations.
Wermerson sells insurance and owns Lakes Television in Spirit Lake.
