(Milford)– A Spencer woman is running as a Republican for the new house district six seat representing Dickinson county, the city of Spencer and four townships in northeast Clay county.
Bonnie Vetter announced her candidacy at a specially called meeting of the Clay and Dickinson county Republican party nominating commissions Tuesday evening in Milford.
Vetter told KUOO news she decided to run at the request of Assistant House Majority Leader Bill Dicks.
Vetter feels her eight years as a commissioner for the Iowa Department of Transportation lends her valuable experience in knowing how state government functions.
Vetter says she’d keep northwest Iowa in the spotlight in Des Moines.
Vetter will square off in the November general election against long-time Democratic incumbent Greg Stevens of Milford.
