Spencer Teen Crowned

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer teen has been crowned “National American Miss Iowa Teen”.

The title was recently bestowed upon 17-year-old Kaylene Kollasch of Spencer.

The pageant was held over several days earlier this month in Des Moines.

41 young women participated. Kollasch says she spent three months getting ready for it.

Kaylene is no stranger to competing in various pageants, having finished fourth runner-up in last year’s “National American Miss Iowa Teen” pageant. She was also named “Miss Congeniality” in this year’s Miss Shamrock Pageant in Emmetsburg and competed for Miss Clay County Fair.

Kaylene graduated this past spring from Spencer High School. She plans to attend Iowa Lakes Community College this fall where she’s enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program.
