Spencer School Bd. Passes Resolution Of Intent On ISL

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Spencer school board is moving ahead with plans to ask the community to consider enacting an Instructional Support Levy to help with a budget shortfall.

The school board Monday evening approved a resolution of intent to move ahead with an Instructional Support Levy. But before the vote, board members heard from Spencer resident Rosie Osterberg who believes the levy would place a burden on low income residents of the community. She urged to board to look at cuts in staffing instead of seeking the levy.

Board member Scott DeGeest urged Osterberg to be patient with the budgeting process, saying nothing definite has been decided yet regarding the Instructional Support Levy.

A public hearing on the matter is set for 5:00 p.m. January 5th.
