(Spencer)– The Sam Goody store in the South Park Mall in Spencer is NOT among the 110 music stores parent company Best Buy is closing. Only two in Iowa are affected-in West Des Moines and Muscatine.
Best Buy announced Thursday it closed the stores to improve the company’s financial position. Company officials site declining sales of pre-recorded music and a slow-down in mall traffic where the affected stores are located.
At the same time it announced the closure of the music stores, Best Buy also announced it’s raising its fourth-quarter earnings outlook, noting better-than-expected December sales.
