(Storm Lake)– A theft case in Storm Lake this week has resulted in the arrest of two Spencer residents.
Storm Lake police say three vehicles were broken into Monday afternoon while they were parked in a parking lot at Storm Lake High School. Stereo equipment, running shoes, clothing, cash and gym bags were missing. An alert student told police they saw two suspicious people in a car in the parking lot and gave police a description and license plate number of the vehicle.
Storm Lake police contacted Spencer police after a check showed the car belonged to someone at a Spencer residence.
Spencer police located the suspect vehicle Tuesday morning at 511 East 19th Street. Interviews were conducted and two arrests were made shortly after.
21-year-old Jill Elbert of Spencer and 24-year-old William Clark of Spencer were arrested on three counts of third degree burglary each. They were taken to Storm Lake and booked into the Buena Vista county jail on bonds of 19-thousand 500-dollars each.
Police recovered a large amount of the stolen property and returned it to the rightful owners.
