Spencer Police Urge “Through” Motorists To Avoid Grand Avenue

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– Police are asking motorists looking to travel straight through Spencer to steer clear of Grand Avenue during the downtown rennovation project, which is just getting started.

Construction started earlier this week in the area of Grand Avenue and Park Street where northbound traffic has been shut down to one lane. Police say traffic has been backed up as far south as the Holiday station in south Spencer.

Police are asking motorists that do not have any business to conduct in the downtown area to use a route other than Grand Avenue. They recommend the East Spencer Beltway…the alternate truck route.

Police also remind motorists that left-turns are strictly prohibited in the construction zone, including alleyways and business drives. Officials say they’ll start siting violators once all the signs advising that are up.
