Spencer Police Investigate Rash Of Car Thefts

(Spencer)– Spencer police are reminding car owners to lock up their vehicles after a rash of vehicle thefts last weekend.

The first was reported around 5:45 a.m. Saturday. A blue 2000 Chevrolet was taken from a residence in the 300 block of East Ninth Street. It was recovered at 7:20 a.m. in the 700 block of East First Street.

The second theft was reported at 7:15 a.m. Saturday. A green 1992 Chevrolet Beretta was stolen from a residence in the 800 block of East Fifth Street. That vehicle was recovered about 45 minutes later in the 300 block of East Ninth Street.

And a third vehicle theft report came in around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A blue 1988 Buick was stolen from a residence in the 500 block of East Second Street. It was later found in the 900 block of East Fifth Street.

Spencer police remind car owners to take the keys out of their vehicles and lock them up when they leave their vehicle unattended.

Authorities aren’t saying if Saturday’s thefts could be related.
