Spencer Middle School Bond Issue Recount Turns Up No Changes

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Results of the April 20th bond issue referendum to build a new Middle School in Spencer remain unchanged following a recount that was conducted Thursday.

The tally following the recount had 2,354 in favor; 1,447 against.

The recount was the result of a petition that was filed following the April 20th election on a four million dollar bond issue. It was the first recount ever in Clay county, and the first ever in Iowa involving touch screen machines.

The recount was conducted by a three-member panel.

The recount tally will be presented to the Clay county board of supervisors at their meeting Tuesday.
