(Spencer)– A Spencer man that was arrested last summer on sex abuse charges has been sentenced in Clay County District Court.
22-year-old Bob Beckman was initially arrested in mid-August on two counts of third degree sexual abuse for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old male. He was charged again in mid-September with three additional counts of third degree sex abuse in connection with a follow-up investigation. And Beckman was charged with escape after he was released from jail in September on a two-day furlough to help his wife move, and they tried to flee over the Canadian border.
Beckman was sentenced Monday in Clay County District Court to 15 years in prison for the sex abuse and escape charges.
District Judge Nancy Whittenburg ordered the 10-year and five-year prison sentences to run consecutively.
