Spencer Man Sentenced In U-S District Court On Meth Charge

November 22, 2014

(Sioux City)– A Spencer man has been sentenced in U-S District Court to more than three years in federal prison for trying to manufacture methamphetamine near a school.

22-year-old Burce LeGear was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine, using a person under the age of 18 within a thousand feet of the Spencer Middle School.

At his plea hearing, LeGear admitted he and others tried to manufacture methamphetamine in the basement of a Spencer residence, using items which they stole from the Spencer area.

In addition to the prison sentence, LeGear was also ordered to pay a 100-dollar assessment and must serve a six-year term of supervised release after completion of the prison term.

LeGear is being held in the custody of a U-S Marshal until he can be transported to a federal prison.
