(Cedar Rapids)– A 55-year-old Spencer man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug charges.
Gary Lee Brooks pleaded guilty to charges including conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a public playground.
In addition to the prison sentence, Brooks must also pay a special assessment of $200 and serve 10 years of supervised release.
Brooks admitted in a plea hearing that he and others conspired to bring meth from Las Vegas to the Storm Lake area in 2008.
Brooks is being held in the custody of U.S. Marshals pending transport to a federal prison.
