(Spencer)– A Spencer man accused of shooting and killing his wife has pleaded innocent.
71-year-old Harold Duncan appeared in Clay County District Court this (Fri.) Morning for an arraignment hearing along with his attorneys, John Sandy and Ned Bjornstad.
In court, Duncan entered an innocent plea to a charge of first degree murder.
Duncan is accused of shooting and killing his wife Karen Kay Duncan January 13th of this year at their mobile home in Spencer. It is alleged that after shooting his wife Duncan turned the gun on himself in an unsuccessful suicide attempt.
Defense attorneys asked Judge Frank Nelson to lower the current bond of 500-thousand dollars and to release Duncan on his own recognizance. He denied the request.
A trial date is tentatively set for August 19th in Clay County District Court.
