(Lake Park)– Charges have been filed against a Spencer man in connection with a pursuit late Wednesday night that started in Osceola county and ended in western Dickinson county.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was trying to pull over a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jesus Rodriguez of Spencer on Highway nine east of Harris. Authorities say Rodriguez refused to pull over, and a short pursuit began. It ended a short time later near Lake Park just south of Highway nine on 110th Avenue in Dickinson county where Rodriguez was taken into custody for eluding.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up cocaine and marijuana along with several items of drug paraphernalia.
Rodriguez was also suspected of drunken driving.
Additional charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, operating while intoxicated…first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and no valid driver’s license were filed against Rodriguez. He’s being held in the Osceola county jail pending an appearance before a magistrate.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Park Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
Authorities say additional charges are pending following DCI lab testing.
