(Spencer)– A Spencer man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing several apartments.
Spencer police officers were called to an apartment complex in the 600 block of East 19th Street around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. Officers talked with several residents who claimed John Cole, Jr. of Spencer had entered their apartments earlier that morning and stole numerous items. Cole was confronted by the tenants as he was leaving one of the apartments, he allegedly grabbed one of the female tenants and began touching her in an inappropriate manner. He then fled the scene.
Later that morning, the tenants positively identified Cole to police through a photo line-up. He was arrested on a warrant at 2:30 p.m.
The 32-year-old is charged with two counts of second degree burglary, each a class “C” felony; one count of criminal trespass; and one count of assault while participating in a felony, a class “D” felony.
Cole was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of 26-thousand dollars.
