(Spencer)– The Spencer Hospital board of trustees has named a new Chief Executive Officer after months of searching.
The search has been ongoing since CEO John Allen resigned in July.
During a special meeting Thursday evening, trustees voted to hire Doug Doorn as the hospital’s new President and Chief Executive Officer.
There was some discussion though leading up to the action. Board member Nancy Whittenberg says she was disappointed they only looked at one internal candidate instead of opting for an external search. Whittenberg added that her disappointment wasn’t targeted at Doorn, but rather at the selection process. She offered her full support to Doorn, as the only nominee for CEO.
Doorn says his first priority as CEO will be to get the surgery center expansion project wrapped up.
Doorn has served as Chief Financial Officer at Spencer Hospital the last five years. He also serves as a financial advisor for Arts On Grand in Spencer.
