(Spencer)– The Paramedic Ambulance Service at Spencer Hospital has been certified as a critical care ambulance service by the State of Iowa Department of Public Health. It’s the first ambulance service in a 16 county region of northwest Iowa to obtain the status.
Spencer Hospital Marketing Director Susan Zulk says the certification means ambulance personnel will be able to transport acute care patients that would ordinarily be transferred to other facilities by air, but can’t be due to weather or factors.
Spencer Hospital’s ambulance service consists of nine full-time and ten part-time paramedics.
