(Spencer)– A Spencer couple has been arrested on child endangerment charges.
An investigation by the Spencer Police Department led to the arrests of 25-year-old John Sanchez and 24-year-old Rebecca Bryan Thursday at their apartment at 317 West 18th Street.
Sanchez is accused of physically abusing the 17-month-old daughter of Bryan. The abuse was brought to the attention of the Department of Human Services and law enforcement by a mandatory reporter who observed the after-effects of the abuse.
Sanchez is charged with child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class “D” felony.
Bryan is charged with child endangerment for permitting the continuing physical abuse of the young girl.
The victim and her four-year-old sister have been removed from the home by the D-H-S.
Both Sanchez and Bryan remain in the Clay county jail with bonds of nearly 10-thousand dollars each.
