November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Spencer Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the city of Spencer and the Spencer Betterment Committee, whill host an informational session on Retail Potential in the Spencer Trade Area at a meeting set for 7:00 p.m. October 13th at the Spencer campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.

Guest speaker will be Joseph Fackel, Senior Vice President of the Buxton Company. He’ll use information contained in the Spencer Retail Analysis which was commissioned specifically to help retail businesses.

The October 13th event will be open to both members and non-members of the Spencer Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber officials say the intent is to identify what’s drawing shoppers to Spencer and why people are leaving Spencer to shop.

The Buxton Report approved through the city of Spencer and financed through various community organizations and businesses was commissioned to get a better understanding of the retail potential and to define the trade area.

Customers are identified through the report through “psychographics” including lifestyles, purchase behavior and media habits. The report matches specific retailers to the community and details a better understanding of retail potential and opportunities that might be available to local retailers and investors.
