(Spencer)– Authorities say snow and ice were contributing factors in an accident this (Wed.) morning in Spencer that sent two people to the hospital.
Spencer police say a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Daniel Booker of Spencer was southbound on Grand Avenue and was crossing the Little Sioux bridge when he lost control and entered the northbound lanes. 55-year-old Macedonio Ruiz of Storm Lake was northbound and was struck head-on by Booker. Both vehicles ended up facing north in the east lane of northbound traffic.
Macedonio and a passenger, 56-year-old Ramos Lupe of Storm Lake, complained of pain and were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. Both were treated and released.
No charges were filed in the mishap that took place just before 7:00 a.m.
