(Milford)– The speed limit on a portion of county road A-34 east of Milford is being changed AGAIN.
The board of supervisors Tuesday voted four-to-one to reconsider action taken a couple of weeks ago to lower the limit from 55 miles-per-hour to 45. After hearing complaints from residents and truckers the new limit is too low, the supervisors voted four-to-one to increase the limit back up to 55 miles-per-hour where the new 35 limit leaves off at the east city limits eastward.
In making the motion, the supervisors also said they want the Iowa Department of Transportation to conduct a formal study on speed in that area.
The action flies in the face of a recommendation from County Engineer Dan Eckert to increase the 45 mile-per-hour zone to 50.
Supervisor Wayne Northey cast the lone no vote, siding with Eckert. He feels the 55-mile-per-hour limit is excessive with all the activity in that area.
