(Arnolds Park)– A long-time volunteer with the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is this year’s Friend Of Tourism Award winner. The award was presented to Ruth Schwarck at the recent state of Iowa Tourism Conference held in Bettendorf. Schwarck was nominated for the award by Carole Caviness of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. Schwarck was recognized for her help in bringing the Queen Two excursion boat to the Iowa Great Lakes; for her fundraising efforts each year for the fourth of July fireworks display; and for serving as a volunteer coordinator at the Okoboji Spirit Center.
On a related note, the “Vacation Okoboji” magazine was named the winner of the Consumer Brochure Award for populations of 10-thousand to 20-thousand. That award was also presented at the conference.
