SLPD Moving Into New Digs

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– It’s moving day today (Monday) for the Spirit Lake Police Department.

The department is moving into its new digs in the former Alliant Energy Operations Facility at the corner of 16th Street and Ithaca Avenue.

To accomodate the move, the office is closed today (Monday). If you need a Spirit Lake officer you should contact the Dickinson County Communications Center at 336-2525 or in the event of an emergency call 911.

The move is expected to be completed by 4:30 this (Monday) afternoon. The department will be up and running from its new location tomorrow (Tuesday) morning beginning at 7:30.

The Spirit Lake city council voted late last year to purchase the former Alliant Energy building, siting a need for more room for the police department. The move will more than double the amount of space the department has. It will also allow the department to have a vehicle impound lot on it’s own site. The lot had previously been located at the Public Works Building on Keokuk Avenue.

Plans call for the city’s Public Works offices to expand into the offices at city hall previously occupied by the Police Department.
