(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop late Sunday afternoon in Spirit Lake resulted in the arrests of two people on drug and other charges.
Spirit Lake police say it happened around 4:00 p.m. when an officer pulled over a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Aaron Johnson of Chicago, Illinois for a traffic violation.
Authorities say there was also a passenger in the vehicle. He was identified as 49-year-old James Miller of Hartley. Police say a check determined that neither had a valid driver’s license.
An inventory search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding what’s alleged to be marijuana and an open container of alcohol.
Johnson was arrested and booked into the Dickinson county jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; prohibited acts; possession of alcohol under the legal age; open container; improper turn; failure to have a valid driver’s license and no insurance.
Miller was arrested and booked into jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; prohibited acts; permitting an unauthorized person to drive and open container.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
