(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake teen was injured Tuesday evening when a pickup collided with a moped he was riding.
Spirit Lake Police say 14-year-old Harrison Hargett of Spirit Lake was riding a moped eastbound on 30th Street at the intersection with Highway 71 and a pickup driven by 36-year-old Robert Jones of Lake Park was southbound on the highway when the two collided.
Hargett was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare and was transferred by helicopter to another hospital with undisclosed injuries.
No injuries were reported to Jones.
Two-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the 1998 Yamaha moped driven by Hargett and to a 1996 Dodge Ram driven by Jones.
Jones was charged with failure to stop at a stop light.
The mishap took place shortly after 7:00 p.m.
It resulted in traffic on the southbound lanes of the highway being shut down for a few minutes.
