SL Teacher Contract Talks Go To Arbitration

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Meeting in special session Thursday, the Spirit Lake school board approved teacher contracts for the 2005-2006 school year. Salaries are the same as the current school year, as contract negotiations have gone to arbitration. The district’s negotiations representative recommended the board approve the contracts to meet a deadline to get them sent out. They’ll be accompanied by a cover letter indicating 2005-2006 compensation will be determined by the arbitrator’s decision. Teachers receiving contract reductions due to budget cuts will be given an “agreement to modify contract letter”.

The board also Thursday approved a four percent increase in salaries and benefits for non-certified and administrative staff for 2005-2006. Substitute teachers will receive an increase from 88-dollars per day to 91.

The board then went into a closed session to discuss negotiations.
