SL Requests Assistance From County In Extending Street

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The city of Spirit Lake is requesting assistance from the county in purchasing right-of-way to extend a road.

Public Works Director Todd Dolphin says they want to extend 170th Street, or County Home Road, from Highway 71 to the site of the YMCA at 235th Avenue…and eventually all the way to Hill Avenue where it would connect with the Lutheran Camp Road.

Dolphin says right-of-way for the first stretch, from Highway 71 to 235th Avenue, has already been purchased for 64-thousand dollars with the city and county dividing the cost. Dolphin says they’re requesting a similar arrangement to extend it the rest of the way to Hill Avenue.

The supervisors took no action on the request yesterday.
