(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake police are just now releasing details into a series of drug-related arrests made over the past week or so.
The first one occurred Sunday as the result of a traffic stop. Police say they pulled over a 1993 Oldsmobile near the Pronto Convenience Store for a traffic violation. They say a subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a controlled substance believed to be marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. A male passenger, 21-year-old Pavito Phaengkhouane of Jackson, Minnesota was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police say the execution of a search warrant Monday evening on an apartment in Spirit Lake led to the arrests of several people on drug charges and the seizure of a vehicle. The search was conducted around 7:30 p.m. Monday at an apartment at 202 28th Street in Spirit Lake. It turned up a quantity of narcotics, drug paraphernalia and other items. No one was present at the residence at the time. Multiple suspects were identified as the result of a subsequent investigation. 21-year-old Jesse Kilgore of Spirit Lake was arrested Tuesday and charged with delivery of psilocybin mushrooms to a juvenile; delivery of marijuana to a juvenile; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; delivery of psilocybin mushrooms; keeping a dwelling for the purpose of using or providing controlled substances; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wednesday Spirit Lake police arrested 19-year-old Trevor Kuhlman of Milford on an arrest warrant in connection with the same investigation. Kuhlman was charged with providing marijuana to a juvenile; possession of psilocybin mushrooms; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia and frequenting a disorderly house. In addition, police say additional marijuana and paraphernalia was found on Kuhlman’s person as he was being arrested. That resulted in additional charges of possession of a controlled substance–marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Also Wednesday, Spirit Lake police arrested a 16-year-old Milford juvenile and charged him with possession of marijuana and frequenting a disorderly house.
Police say arrest warrants have been issued for additional adults, with charges pending against additional juveniles in connection with the case.
They say a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix was also seized in the case.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Okoboji, Milford and Arnolds Park Police Departments.
In another case, Spirit Lake police say they stopped a vehicle shortly before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday for a minor traffic violation that resulted in the discovery of a substance believed to be marijuana. The driver, 33-year-old David Kathman of Everly, was arrested and charged with prohibited acts and possession of a controlled substance. A passenger, 27-year-old Kenneth Keene of Spencer, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance…third offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were booked into the Dickinson county jail.
