(Sioux Falls, S.D.)– A Spirit Lake man is in jail on drug charges in South Dakota after authorities pulled over a vehicle he was driving in Sioux Falls.
40-year-old Ricklyn Dawson of Spirit Lake has been charged with possessing and intent to distribute drugs.
Authorities say they pulled Dawson over after getting a report from another motorist about a suspicious vehicle. It had initially been parked, but left the scene when authorities arrived. Police were able to stop it a short time later.
After Dawson was taken into custody, authorities returned to the original location of the vehicle and found a second suspect…identified as 24-year-old Benjamin Carrell of Sioux Falls…who was carrying two duffel bags. A search of the bags turned up two tanks of anhydrous ammonia. Carrell was also arrested and charged.
Authorities believe the van the two men had been in housed a mobile meth lab.
In addition to meth, a substance believed to be LSD along with another substance known as Special K, an animal tranquilizer, were also found by authorities. Officials believe the animal tranquilizer was stolen from veterinary offices in the Sioux Falls and Winner, South Dakota areas.
Carrell and Dawson are being held in the Minnehaha county jail in Sioux Falls.
