(Sioux City)– Federal drug charges have been filed against a Spirit Lake man.
38-year-old David Parson has been charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession with intent to distribute meth. The charges are contained in an indictment filed March 21st of this year in U-S District Court in Sioux City.
The indictment alleges that from about January 2004 through August 18th, 2005, Parson conspired with others to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine within a thousand feet of a residence hall and gymnasium at Morningside College in Sioux City.
If convicted Parson faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, an eight million dollar fine, 200-dollars in special assessments and 10 years of supervised release up to life following any imprisonment.
Parson appeared today (Tuesday) in U-S District Court and was released on bond. His next court appearance is set for June 5th when a trial will be held before U-S District Court Senior Judge Donald E. O’Brien.
