(Spirit Lake)– Progress continues on the Highway nine project through Spirit Lake.
Todd Dolphin, the city’s Public Works Director, says most of the activity right now is concentrated west of Peoria Avenue where crews are doing dirt work in preparation of widening the road in that area. Work also continues on drain intakes and street lighting. If things go as scheduled, paving could start in the next week and-a-half or so.
On another note, Dolphin says getting around in other portions of Spirit Lake will be a little trickier next week as crews will be sealcoating some side streets. Dolphin says most blacktop streets on the city’s south and northeast sides will be sealcoated this summer, with a few exceptions. Dolphin says it’s been three years since any streets in Spirit Lake have been sealcoated. It’s a necessary measure to keep blacktopped streets from deterioriating and developing potholes.
