(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake firefighters have been busy recently–responding to two calls within 24 hours.
The first was around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when firefighters were called to a vehicle fire at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says some power steering fluid apparently dripped down onto a hot muffler or tail pipe, causing a small fire to break out. He says it was pretty much out when firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on the scene about 15 minutes.
The other call came in shortly after 9:00 this (Thurs.) morning. Jorgenson says firefighters were called to Lakes Apartments on a report of a strong odor of something burning. Upon arriving Jorgenson says firefighters and the building manager conducted a thorough inspection, but could find nothing on fire. Jorgenson says the odor was strongest in one particular apartment, which was aired out.
Firefighters were on the scene about 40 minutes.
