(Spirit Lake)– A close call Friday afternoon at a residence in the Center Lake Village area of Spirit Lake.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says firefighters were called to lot 77 where a fire had broken out under some decking of a trailer house. He says they were able to get it put out before the fire could move into the house itself.
Jorgenson believes the smoke was discovered by a neighbor. He says it’s fortunate the fire was discovered when it was, as it wouldn’t have taken much more to start the trailer house on fire. And Jorgenson says the strong wind would have made it very difficult to fight the blaze.
Spirit Lake firefighters were initially on the scene about a half hour. They were called back later to extinguish a flare-up.
Damage was described as minimal.
