SL Firefighters Battle Minnesota Grass Fire

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to the scene of a grass fire Sunday afternoon in Jackson county, Minnesota.

Firefighters were called to the Roger Achterhoff residence on the north side of Little Spirit Lake around 3:30 p.m.

Firefighters say a fire in a burn barrel apparently got out of control and spread to some neighboring lots. The fire got up next to a storage shed melting some of its vinyl siding. The shed is owned by the Jackson County Conservation Board and houses aeration equipment. There was no damage to the interior or the equipment.

The Spirit Lake Fire Department was on the scene for about an hour.
