(Spirit Lake)– Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident this (Friday) morning on Highways nine and 71 on the east edge of Spirit Lake near the Pioneer Beach curve.
Spirit Lake Police say 23-year-old Kyle Strube of Estherville was westbound when he slid across the center line, striking the front-end of an eastbound vehicle driven by 31-year-old Christine Cooklin of Estherville.
Strube was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare by ambulance; Cooklin was transported to the hospital by private vehicle. Both were treated for head injuries.
Six thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Strube and to a 2003 Nissan Cooklin was driving. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Strube was cited for crossing left of center.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Okoboji Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office as both lanes of traffic were blocked for a short time.
The mishap took place shortly after 6:30 this (Fri.) morning.
