(Spirit Lake)– Action at the last meeting of the Spirit Lake city council to table appointments of City Administrator and City Attorney and a split vote to re-appoint the Police Chief came back up at Tuesday’s meeting.
Some people in the overflowing crowd at Tuesday’s meeting accused council members Kevin Bice and Jerry Harbst of having personal vendettas against those currently holding the positions.
Bice issued a strong response, saying the only reason why he voted to table the appointments was so he could have some time to get to know the people currently holding those positions better. Bice denied having any personal vendetta against the personnel, and said he resented the fact the vendetta accusations were made behind his back.
Councilman Jerry Harbst echoed Bice’s comments, saying it’s important reviews of those holding those positions be done in a prudent manner.
The appointments were not on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting. The vendetta accusations were made by some in the crowd who addressed the council at the end of the meeting.
