(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to ban radio and television towers and transmission and receiver facilities in areas zoned Highway Commercial.
The action followed a public hearing that drew no oral comments.
A letter submitted to the council was in favor of the action, siting a cellular telephone tower in downtown Emmetsburg.
Plans by a cellular telephone company to erect a tower at the Highways 9 and 71 intersection in Spirit Lake spurred the action.
