Sioux Central Teacher Accused Of Inappropriate Contact With Student

(Sioux Rapids)– A teacher at the Sioux Central school is accused of having inappropriate contact with a female student at his home in Sioux Rapids.

The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report on February 22nd of alleged inappropriate contact by a male teacher with a minor female student.

Upon investigating, deputies determined two separate incidents had allegedly taken place at the teacher’s home.

Based on their findings, authorities charged 24-year-old Steven Lindseth of Sioux Rapids with two counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee. Both are aggravated misdemeanors.

An additional investigation revealed that Lindseth was allegedly in possession of a handgun while on school property. Additional charges of carrying a weapon on school property, a class “D” felony, and carrying a concealed weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, were also filed against Lindseth.

Lindseth was booked into the Buena Vista county jail and was later released on bond.

Lindseth taught history, government and geography, and coached football, basketball and golf. He resigned March 12th.
