(Sibley)– The Iowa Department of Transportation is closing 21 temporary driver’s license stations in a cost-cutting effort. The one in Sibley is among those being shut down. Folks there will have to go to the Osceola County Treasurer’s office, which also offers the service.
D-O-T officials say they’re making the move to reduce expenses and free up equipment for use by County Treasurer’s.
48 County Treasurer’s offices currently offer driver’s license services. Iowa lawmakers last session authorized an additional 33 counties to provide the service.
