Sheriff: Nothing New In Search For Hit & Run Boat

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Nothing new to report late this (Tues.) afternoon in the ongoing search for a boat wanted in connection with a deadly hit-and-run collision early last Friday on West Lake Okoboji.

The crash claimed the life of a Perry dentist, 51-year-old Michael Brosnahan. His wife, 50-year-old Jill, was seriously injured.

There are unsubstantiated reports on some local website bulletin boards stating the suspect boat has been located. But Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun says those reports aren’t true, and the search continues.

A 25-thousand dollar reward is being offered for any information that leads to the apprehension and conviction of whoever’s responsible. There’s a possibility that could be increased to 50-thousand tomorrow (Wed.).

Officials say the suspect boat…believed to be atleast 22 feet long that’s predominantly white with two red stripes six to eight inches wide and a foot apart…may not have much damage on it.
