Sheldon Man Pleads Innocent In Fatal Shooting

(Sheldon)– A Sheldon man has pleaded not guilty to charges related to a fatal shooting October 8th of this year.

22-year-old Shane W. Meyer has pleaded innocent to unauthorized possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities allege Lathan M. Barnett of Sheldon accidentally fired a sawed-off shotgun in Meyer’s apartment. Police found 17-year-old Shelley Gonnerman of Sheldon with a gunshot wound to the face.

Barnett has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Arraignment is scheduled for January.
