Sheldon Man Charged In Arnolds Park Pursuit

(Arnolds Park)– A pursuit Monday evening through yards and streets in Arnolds Park has resulted in charges being filed against a Sheldon man.

Authorities say an Okoboji police officer attempted to stop a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier being driven by 20-year-old Jeremy Kuiper of Sheldon around 9:45 p.m. Authorities say Kuiper refused to stop, leading them on a chase.

Police say Kuiper fled the vehicle after it was involved in an accident in Arnolds Park.

A foot pursuit went through several yards and streets in Arnolds Park. After about 25 minutes and with the assistance of a canine unit, police were able to apprehend Kuiper in a back yard.

Kuiper was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense; attemtping to elude; reckless driving; interference with official acts; failure to maintain control; possession of alcohol and open container.

Kuiper was booked into the Dickinson county jail.

The Okoboji Police Department was assisted by the Arnolds Park, Milford and Spirit Lake Police Departments, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
